Cabinet Approves News Measures for the youth livelihood programme
Cabinet has approved new performance improvement measures for the youth livelihood programme as a means to enable more young people to start up their own enterprise.
Government spokesperson Ofono Opondo says that cabinet yesterday noted the performance of the youth livelihood from 2013/2014-2017/2018 and looked at the different areas stopping it from having the desired impact. .
Opondo says that one of the measures approved included increasing funding from 10 to 20 percent from the national budget but also reduce the number of youth that are supposed to form a group from ten to five after realizing that it was hard to have ten youth from the same village be interested in the same project.
Opondo also says that once the groups are approved the money will be sent straight to their bank accounts and will no longer need the signature of chief administrative officer of the district to have access to these funds.
