Oyam District Registers its First One Person Corona Virus Case
Oyam district has recorded a positive case of corona virus. The case is of a man who had returned from South Sudan via Elegu border through Gulu last week. He is said to have been footing.
He was intercepted from Obangageo trading center in Acaba sub county Oyam District last week from where the local council one chairperson detained him and alerted the district task force.
The man who is a resident of Opam B’ village, Ogwang apur parish, Acaba Sub county was resting at the trading center while waiting for a bicycle which was supposedly to be sent by his family members to pick him up and take him home upon arrival.
The suspect was then taken to Anyeke HC II, the District Quarantine Center from where his sample was taken for testing. The results came back among those tested on Sunday and he was found to be positive.
Nelson Adea Akar, the Oyam District LCV chairperson and also a member of the District task force says the LCI who intercepted the case has been isolated while the positive man is still at Anyeke HCII awaiting a pick up team from the ministry who will take him to a treatment center of their choice since Lira and Gulu are currently full.
He explained that since the man was already at the quarantine center, everyone who is at the center will be tested afresh and monitored for the next 14 days before they can be released to the community.
He called on the public to be more careful and observe all presidential directives and those given by the Ministry of Health.
