Parliament has stayed the proposed bill that seeks leave of Parliament to introduce a private member's bill entitled “The Land Amendment Bill"

The proposed bill seeks address issues related to land tenure, evictions, payment of ground rent and land ownership.

The minister for lands Betty Amongi opposed the bill on ground that there is no need for an amendment to address this matter because the land Act  is addressing it and has protected people.

She said that mp Nsubuga should work with government so as it comes with an amended statutory instrument land evictions.

This caused the deputy speaker to halt the bill introduction and asked the minister of lands to take care of the proposed amendments by mp Simeo Nsubuga and bring the amendments  to parliament  within 45 days .
